Faculty Cheryl Vaughn – Director: Cheryl has been with the preschool since 1994. She has had three of her four children go through the program. Cheryl was on the board of directors for the preschool for 2 years and took over the Directorship in 1998 making this her 14th year as Director. Cheryl has a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education Preschool – 6th grade and a BS in psychology. Cheryl is currently working on her Master’s degree in Administration, is the vice president of McHenry County Directors Association and has earned her Illinois Director Credential. Cheryl has been instrumental in laying the ground work of “Growing Together” which is collaboration of the District 26 Kindergarten teachers/Administration and the Cary Preschools working together to inform parents the roles that each play in your child’s development and education. Cheryl was also the adult winner of the Cary Character Counts award for 2005. Cheryl has one son Taylor a college graduate of Plymouth State University in the Coast Guard, a daughter McKenzie that is a Junior at American University in Washington DC, a son Travis a Sophomore at Johnson and Wales University in Rhode Island and daughter Kelsey that is a Senior at CGHS. Laura Dorfler-Administrative Assistant – This year marks Laura’s 9th year as our Administrative Assistant and has been with the school since 1998 as a parent sending her two children here. Laura handles all the finances on the school and works in the preschool office. Both her children attended the preschool; son Brad is a Junior at CGHS and a daughter Michele a 8th grader at CJH. Rose McLaughlin – This is Rose’s 14th year as an Assistant Teacher of the 3 year old programs. Rose has two children; John a Senior at Eastern Illinois college and Brittany a Sophomore at Western Illinois college. Sue Sakalys – This is Sue’s 12th year with the preschool and she is teaching the Junior 5’s. Sue holds a BS degree in Food and Business, is Director qualified and has had several years experience with children. Sue has two daughters Sara a Senior at Louisville Kentucky State and Amy a Junior at CGHS. Mary Hargrove – Mary is a Teacher in the Jr. 5’s program this year. This is Mary’s 12th year at the preschool. She has also taught the Terrific Two’s program. Mary has a son Cory who just graduated college, a daughter Paige that is a freshman at Harper Community College and a daughter Gabbi in 1st grade. Gabbi also attended the preschool. Kathy Hedgepath – Kathy makes this her 10th year here and is our M/W 3’s teacher and prior to that was one of our teachers in the Terrific Two’s program. Kathy holds an Associates Degree in Early Childhood education and has had several years teaching experience. Kathy’s son Nico attended the preschool and is now in 8th grade at St. Peter and Paul; her twin daughters Kelly and Kylie are Freshman at Illinois State University. Shannan Smith – Shannan’s two sons attended the preschool and it is her 8th year teaching here. Shannan comes to us with a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education/Elementary. She is co-teaching the morning and afternoon MWT 4’s and is also Director qualified. Shannan’s son Patrick is a sophomore at Texas A&M and Will is a sophomore at CGHS. Krisiti LaSota – Kristi has a Bachelor degree in Education and a Master’s of Arts in Elementary Guidance and Counseling making her Director qualified. Kristi is a co-teach in the MWT 4’s with Shannan for the 8th year. Her son Josh attended the preschool and is in 8th grade at CJH; her daughter Jessica is a Junior at CGHS. Julie Lewis – Julie begins her 3rd year as Teacher in the MTT 4’s and prior to that a teacher in the MW 3’s and Terrific Two’s program. Julie was on the Preschool board for three years, President for two years and our 2’s teacher for 2 years. She attended the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh for 2 years for elementary education. Julie’s two children both graduated from the preschool; Brock is a 3rd grader and Kayla a 6th grader. Meghan Ruscheinski – This is Meghan’s 3rd year as a teacher in the TT 3’s and will be teaching Kindergarten in our Jr 5's/Kindergarten class. Meghan has a BS in Elementary Education from Butler University. Meghan has been the teacher in our Terrific Twos for the past three years. Two of Meghan’s children came through the preschool. Her oldest daughter Lexi is in 8th grade, a son Jack 7th grade and a daughter Allie in 6th grade. Christian Preschool and Child Care in Illinois |
